3M Healthcare Data Dictionary to be integrated with CitiusTech's BI-Clinical business intelligence framework

CitiusTech, a leading provider of healthcare technology solutions and services, has signed an agreement with 3M Health Information Systems to integrate the 3M(TM) Healthcare Data Dictionary with CitiusTech's BI-Clinical healthcare business intelligence framework. The agreement will enable BI-Clinical clients to leverage the robust capabilities of the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary for enhanced terminology mapping across source systems.

The 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary is a controlled medical vocabulary server, which enables effective mapping of clinical terminology and administrative concepts. It translates the identifiers used among different information systems for procedures, diagnoses, clinical assessments, problem lists, medications and observations, and standardizes and normalizes the data across multiple clinical terminologies such as ICD-9-CM, SNOMED(R) and LOINC(R).

CitiusTech's BI-Clinical framework provides an integrated approach for clinical, operational, financial and regulatory performance management for healthcare organizations - covering over 600 measures. Integration with 3M's comprehensive medical vocabulary enables BI-Clinical to better exchange, compare, query and report on healthcare data. Consequently, the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary strengthens the core features of BI-Clinical, including clinical and administrative decision support based on individual patients or population, outcomes research (data warehousing, population queries, etc.), regulatory reporting (Meaningful Use, CMS/PQRI, JCAHO, etc.).

"This agreement combines the data aggregation, analytics and reporting capabilities of CitiusTech's BI-Clinical with the comprehensive medical vocabulary of the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary," said Ray Terrill, Senior Vice President, 3M Health Information Systems. "The combined offering will help hospitals, managed care organizations, HIEs, and other healthcare organizations make full use of patient data to deliver decision support, improve outcomes, and increase competitive strength."

"Terminology mapping is a critical success factor for any business intelligence initiative in healthcare. Our partnership with 3M will enable our clients to leverage the powerful capabilities of the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary to map their data," said Rizwan Koita, CEO, CitiusTech. "In addition, BI-Clinical clients can use 3M Terminology Consulting Services to perform both initial terminology mapping and ongoing maintenance of mappings of their legacy data to reference terminologies."
