Tomorrow, Anthem Blue Cross State Sponsored Business will team with local health and community agencies to host the Hmong Health Awareness Fair. Local health and community organizations will be on hand to provide local families free health screenings, vaccines and health information.  The health fair will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3: p.m. at the Asian Village Shopping Center located at 4903 E. Kings Canyon Road.

Families attending the event can take advantage of free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings that will be provided by Clinica Sierra Vista and Kings Winery Medical Clinic. Vaccines for Swine Flu (H1N1) and whooping cough will also be offered at no cost to families.

As Fresno County continues to feel the effects of the economy, the need for local health and community services has never been more important. "The impact of the economy is very real in Fresno and the effect that it has on the ability for residents to access needed health and social services becomes critical," said Dan Shydler, regional director, Anthem Blue Cross State Sponsored Business. "This event is a great example of how our community can come together to help meet the needs of our residents during very difficult times and we know that today more than ever families are relying on events such as this to access needed services."

In addition to free screenings and vaccine local social services agencies will be on hand to provide valuable health information to help families address a variety of health issues such as hepatitis, diabetes, oral and vision care and high blood pressure. Health fair attendees will also be treated to live music, entertainment, drawings and giveaways.
