The Hill's Healthwatch Blog: "The House passed six health-related bills Wednesday evening, including efforts to combat Medicare fraud and dispose of unused prescription drugs." The measures were approved under suspension of the rules, "an expedited procedure that only allows for 40 minutes of debate followed by a voice vote." The list of bills approved include: The Combat Methamphetamine Enhancement Act of 2009, a Senate-passed measure that strikes references to "mental retardation" in federal law, a resolution in support of designating September 2010 as Blood Cancer Awareness Month and a bill to provide $50 million in funding over five years to support infant mortality pilot programs in metropolitan areas.

The House postponed consideration of four other bills after roll call votes were requested, among them was one measure that would extend federal liability protections to volunteers at Community Health Centers (Pecquet, 9/23).
