Gatherer Partnership is now part of rehabilitation facilities at The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital

The Gatherer Partnership, conceived to develop innovative products that offer physiotherapists accurate and objective data for the management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, has announced it is part of the respected rehabilitation facilities at The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital (RBH). The venture will enable The RBH, specialists in rehabilitation for spinal injuries and neurological conditions such as strokes, to access The Gatherer Partnership's tools and expertise for its patients in its own facility. A new clinic has been specially created at The RBH in Aylesbury which is more centrally located than the original Gatherer Partnership centre in Norfolk.

"Our closer ties with RBH will provide better access to consultants, specialists, neurosurgeons and, crucially, the patients in the surrounding region, because this area - with Stoke Mandeville Hospital - is renowned for rehabilitation," says Don Gatherer, founder of The Gatherer Partnership.

"We have a new bespoke clinic with all the other advanced facilities and medical services that RBH offers to speed up rehabilitation. It provides a truly comprehensive recovery centre."

The partnership also allows The RBH to use Gatherer's pioneering technology which is already being successfully adopted by elite athletes to train and rehabilitate after injury. "We recognise the advantages of acquiring and using objective measurement and the cases to date have demonstrated impressive results," says The RBH's manager Diccon Clarke.

"We will be the first clinic to apply the technology, enhancing the rehabilitation and reducing recovery times for our patients from around the world."

The clinic will also enable The RBH's own physiotherapists to use The Gatherer Partnership's facilities, making assessments and the development of rehabilitation programmes more accessible. "There has been great demand for the technology to be tested from patients that wish to be tested, but we have been restricted by my own capacity," adds Gatherer. "Now, we will be able to assess more people quickly." The partnership will also enable more specialists to use the technology, which to date has focussed on neck injuries. "Our specialists are already excited about the opportunities to improve rehabilitation techniques for spinal injury patients," adds Clarke.

"They can also provide direct input into the ongoing and expanding range of features The Gatherer Partnership is developing. Combined with our other facilities and our bespoke and intensive approach to patient care, we believe that we will offer the most innovative rehabilitation methods available globally."
