Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE: TFX), a leading global provider of medical devices for critical care and surgery, has announced the addition of VasoNova ®Vascular Positioning System (VPS®) to its existing Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters agreement with Amerinet. The agreement began May 1, 2011 and runs through April 30, 2014.
"This agreement brings a powerful new option for catheter placement confirmation to clinicians," noted Paul Molloy, President, Vascular Division, Teleflex. "The VasoNova VPS system comprises an advanced electronic console and single use procedure kit. The technology significantly increases correct central catheter tip placement on the first attempt with a goal of reducing the time, cost and radiation exposure associated with confirmatory chest X-rays. We anticipate patients will benefit from faster time to therapy with reduced risk of complications associated with malposition as a result."
VasoNova recently received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market the VPS peripherally inserted central catheter tip location technology as an alternative to chest x-ray or fluoroscopy in adult patients.
