Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) today launched its annual conference, the Allscripts Client Experience (ACE), with over 450 educational sessions for more than 4,700 attendees representing care providers in all settings, sizes and specialties.

"This year at ACE, many of the nation's leading healthcare organizations will showcase the next stage of health information technology, where insights provided by Electronic Health Records will begin to deliver measureable, broad-scale improvements in health outcomes," said Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman. "ACE gives our clients the opportunity to network, learn from client conducted education sessions, and hear first-hand about the successes of some of the most innovative healthcare organizations in the nation. Together, we're leveraging technology to improve the safety, coordination and efficiency of patient care."

Mr. Tullman will open the conference on Monday in a keynote focused on the next chapter in healthcare IT innovation, "Insights to Outcomes" or i2O.  The approach is previewed in an editorial by Mr. Tullman yesterday in Healthcare IT News.  Additionally, Allscripts today is posting 100 examples of leading healthcare organizations that are leveraging the i2O concept, producing insights that are driving significant improvements in health outcomes. To view their outcomes, go to www.allscripts.com/i2O.

Dr. Farzad Mostashari, National Health Information Technology Coordinator, will join Mr. Tullman onstage to discuss the ONC's perspective on the future of healthcare.  The keynote will be streamed live on the Web beginning at 8 a.m. Central Time today.  Click here to view the webcast, or visit www.allscripts.com/ace2011.

During Mr. Tullman's keynote, attendees will also see caregivers at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Ark. sharing patient information between Allscripts Enterprise™ Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a physician practice, and Sunrise Clinical Manager™ in the hospital.

This demonstration of the live integration between the Company's ambulatory and acute care EHRs comes on the first anniversary of the merger of Allscripts and Eclipsys.

On Tuesday, the keynote presenter is serial inventor Dean Kamen who will discuss innovation and how he earned over 400 patents, including breakthroughs in healthcare such as the first wearable insulin pump, and lifestyle innovations like the Segway® personal transport system.

Innovations for iPad®

In addition to demonstrating several soon-to-be-released solutions for the acute and ambulatory markets at ACE, Allscripts will demonstrate iPad apps that extend the usability of its Electronic Health Record platform for both physician practices and hospitals.

For hospitals, Sunrise Mobile MD™ II maximizes the capabilities of iPad®, giving physicians intuitive mobile access to vital clinical information about their hospitalized patients. The solution is especially designed to support the mobile activity of patient rounding by enabling physicians to view and find patient summaries, place orders, create progress notes, review and forward documents as well as capture charges.
