In this post in Management Sciences for Health's (MSH) "Global Health Impact" blog, Sara Holtz, a senior technical officer at MSH, reports on the 53-page outcome document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last week. She highlights several health-related commitments outlined in document, called "The Future We Want," and writes, "MSH, along with leading implementers and advocates such as the NCD Alliance, laments the document's lack of strong wording and commitments to chronic [non-communicable diseases (NCDs)]. We believe that the outcome document did not go far enough in making countries accountable for progress" (6/27).
