ACP physician to receive 2012 Ruth-Marie E. Fincher, MD, Service Award from CDIM

Philip Masters, MD, FACP, is the recipient of the 2012 Ruth-Marie E. Fincher, MD, Service Award from the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM), a national organization of leaders in internal medicine education for undergraduates.

Dr. Masters is a senior medical associate for content development at the American College of Physicians (ACP), the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States.

"Phil Masters plays a vital role in the ACP's mission to be the foremost education resource for all internists," said Steven Weinberger, MD, FACP, executive vice president and CEO, ACP. "I congratulate Dr. Masters for winning an award named in honor of Dr. Ruth-Marie Fincher, who as a Master of the ACP has distinguished herself in the practice of internal medicine."

The Ruth-Marie E. Fincher, MD, Service Award is presented annually to a CDIM member who has made sustained and extraordinary contributions to the mission of CDIM through leadership and service to the association. Dr. Masters has served CDIM as a member, chair of multiple committees and programs, and president (2006-07). He will receive the award during the 2012 CDIM National Meeting, held as part of Academic Internal Medicine Week 2012.

Dr. Masters is the recipient of numerous other honors, including designation as a Distinguished Educator and several Teacher of the Year awards from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.
