Global Fund Observer reports on new funding model progress

Aidspan, an independent watchdog of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, on Tuesday published Issue 208 (.pdf) of its "Global Fund Observer." Among others, the issue contains two stories on the new funding model (NFM), which, according to the first article, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria expects to launch by the end of February (1/29). The second article reports on a consultation organized by the Communities Delegation on the Global Fund Board and the Global Network of People Living with HIV, writing, "[A]ttended by 31 community leaders and activists from national, regional and international networks of communities living with and affected by the three diseases," the communities consultation released a statement, which "said that the Global Fund should develop mechanisms 'to raise awareness, improve understanding of, and increase engagement of, communities prior to and during the transition to the NFM'" (1/29).
