Routledge Journals announces the publication of a special double- issue from Social Work with Groups.  Volume 36, Issue 2-3, 2013 - Special Issue: IASWG Standards for Social Work with Groups: Research, Teaching and Practice. The Standards for Social Work Practice with Groups were developed by the Practice Committee of the board of directors of the International Association for Social Work With Groups (IASWG). The articles presented examine how the Standards are being used in practice, teaching, and research — and how they might be further disseminated and revised.

  • Use of the Standards in group work practice
  • Reflections on the Standards from diverse international perspectives
  • Use of the Standards in teaching or supervision of group work
  • The use of the Standards in research

The special issue was compiled by Guest Editors Carol S. Cohen, Mark J. Macgowan, Charles Gavin, and Barbara Muskat and is divided into three sections - research, education and practice, including use of the Standards in special settings and with varied populations.  Content, to name just a few areas, includes use of the Standards by school social workers and in group work with military veterans and individuals with intellectual disabilities. Additional articles focus on the application of Standards in rural setting, in Quebec and Ireland . . . and much more.  Subscribers to the current volume year (Volume 36, 2013) will receive the Special Issue: IASWG Standards for Social Work with Groups: Research, Teaching and Practice as part of their subscription order.

"This special issue of the Journal that is devoted to the Standards for Social Work with Groups, marks an important milestone in group work history. Eleven excellent articles on the use of the Standards, now in its Second Edition, written by an international cast of authors, brings the Standards to life for readers and encourages their use in research, education and practice. This double-issue of Social Work with Groups deserves a place in every group work practitioner and educator's bookcase," said Editor-in-Chief Andrew Malekoff.
