Teleflex introduces Rusch TruLite Laryngoscope System

Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE: TFX), a leading global provider of medical devices for critical care and surgery, has launched the Rusch® TruLite™ Laryngoscope System, a disposable laryngoscope blade and handle system for single-patient use.

“Many customers have found that the hidden costs and patients risks of reprocessing laryngoscope blades for routine surgical procedures are far higher than the cost for adopting single-use laryngoscopes”

The Rusch TruLite Laryngoscope System is the latest addition to Teleflex's broad single-use anesthesia product portfolio — a line that is playing an increasingly important role in clinicians' practice since the October 2011 publication of Joint Commission laryngoscope cleaning guidelines. Hospitals have been reevaluating the potential risk of patient cross-contamination and the cost of maintaining reusable laryngoscopes compared with the convenience of single-use laryngoscope solutions.

"Many customers have found that the hidden costs and patients risks of reprocessing laryngoscope blades for routine surgical procedures are far higher than the cost for adopting single-use laryngoscopes," said Cary Vance, President, Teleflex Anesthesia and Respiratory Division. "Rusch single-use laryngoscopes inspire confidence in physicians by combining the quality of reusables blades with the convenience of a disposable option, helping hospitals accelerate adoption of single-patient use solutions."

Like a reusable laryngoscope, the TruLite blade is constructed of surgical grade stainless steel with rounded edges and tip, providing strength and security during this critical procedure. The integrated handle is a uniform size for all blade configurations, and combines a high-grade, reinforced plastic with an ergonomic grip to allow for a secure grip during intubation. The system features LED lighting technology to provide strong, focused, reliable illumination while reducing battery consumption and replacement cost.

The critical components that join the blade and the handle in the Rusch TruLite Laryngoscope System are built to reliably withstand the forces of intubation. This one-piece blade and handle system also prevents the risk of component incompatibility in emergency situations.

Teleflex features a broad airway management portfolio, marketed under best-in-class Rusch® and LMA® brands, that applies practical innovation to eliminate airway-related complications.

The Rusch brand includes a comprehensive portfolio of reusable and disposable laryngoscope blades and handles, endotracheal tubes, endobronchial tubes, oral and nasal airways, endobronchial blockers, and other accessories, all designed to help provide versatile solutions to anesthesiologists across the airway management continuum of critical care.
