Colorcon and Evonik have announced the signing of a cooperation agreement for the market promotion and technical support of Acryl-EZE®, aqueous acrylic enteric system.

Prior to this new cooperation agreement, the product was produced, distributed, marketed and supported solely by Colorcon to the pharmaceutical industry. This cooperation will create additional value for customers as the two organizations focus on the promotion and technical support for the high performance and cost effective enteric acrylic coating solution, Acryl-EZE® through the Evonik network and established Colorcon channels.

The Acryl-EZE® system, for the application of an enteric film coating for oral solid dosage forms, was originally co-developed by the two companies. It combines the benefits and performance of Evonik's globally accepted enteric polymer, EUDRAGIT® L 100-55, with a fully or partially formulated coating system from Colorcon, providing significant time savings in both development and production.

"Expanding our sales and marketing activities will enable us to reach and support more customers and offer them a broader technical service together with Evonik, a leading company in delayed release polymers. We are excited to enter this new cooperation" affirms Colorcon's CEO Martti Hedman.

"Colorcon is a market leader in fully formulated film coating systems and Acryl-EZE® is well established in the pharmaceutical market. This new cooperation will expand our offering and bring more choices to our customers ranging from single functional excipients to fully formulated delayed release coating systems" comments Jean-Luc Herbeaux, Head of the Health Care Business Line, of Evonik Industries.

From now on, customers with enteric coating projects will have access to nine technology centers of Evonik and twenty technical services laboratories of Colorcon globally. The combined service offerings of Colorcon and Evonik include on site scale-up and production assistance, regulatory support, formulation and development support and technical training.
