NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Voxiva, Inc. announces the launch of a new mobile app for its Care4life(SM) Diabetes self-management program.  Care4life provides personalized diabetes education and support using highly credible content, evidence-based behavior change methods, and personalized communications to engage and support people with type 2 diabetes. The app is available as a free download for iPhone and Android phones.

Care4life is the only comprehensive digital support program for type 2 diabetes self-management, providing users with a broad range of tools to help them take better control of their condition. The program educates and motivates users to attain a healthy weight with nutrition tips and exercise goals, records and monitors blood glucose readings, and helps individuals remember to take medications as prescribed by their physician. These self-care behaviors have been shown to lead to better diabetes health.

Care4life content was developed in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association, and is offered to Association members through their Living With Type 2 Diabetes program. A growing number of health plan customers offer the Care4life service to their members.

"Many apps for diabetes management are designed to help people track their blood glucose readings and not much else," said Voxiva CEO, Justin Sims.  "Care4life additionally focuses on self-care activities, which are an important part of getting those readings where they're supposed to be."  In a recent study of Care4life users, 85% said it helped them remember to take medications and attend doctors' appointments; 47% of users set an exercise goal and 62% report achieving it; and 47% of users set a weight goal and 31% report achieving it.

Care4life is unique because it uses personalized text messaging to pace the flow of information.  It captures data on actions taken through a variety of interfaces which is then stored in an online personal health record and mobile app. "The text messaging component ensures that personalized tips and motivation are delivered on a timely basis, and the on-line elements are there to provide more in depth content and a digital record that can be shared with an individual's care team," said Sims. As one recent user put it, "With Care4life, I never feel alone".
