IRS to issue fines for those who do not register for Obamacare

The Affordable Care Act or Obamacare requires most Americans to obtain some kind of health insurance coverage starting in 2014. It is designed to protect consumers from insurance company worst-practices – like denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions, capping total coverage, and dropping or watering down coverage when consumers get sick and need it most.

With the upcoming deadline for the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, a hotline has been established to help consumers better understand the many health care options.

Obamacare does allow Americans to go up to a maximum of 3 months without coverage, but fines will be issued from the IRS for not registering. Obamacare Enrollment Deadline

The original Obamacare open enrollment period has been rescheduled for Nov. 15, 2014 - Jan. 15, 2015. Consumers looking for Obamacare, under the first year of the new rule, have until Jan. 15, 2015 -- when open enrollment on the new marketplace closes -- to get insured before a potential fine is issued.

The majority of people uninsured today can find a policy for $30 - $100 per month, taking into account subsidies and Medicaid eligibility. Some will carry higher deductibles and co-pays.
