Rethinking Analyte Screening in Pediatric and Emergency Care

Analyte testing in pediatric and emergency room settings is limited by both false-positive and false-negative results using traditional immunoassay methods. False positives result from antibody cross-reactivity, and false negatives occur from dilute urine specimens or a limited scope of analyte targets. Direct-to-mass spectrometry (MS) protocols provide definitive identification and lower limits of detection, mitigating the risks of both false negatives and positives. While successful implementation has been demonstrated in single-hospital settings, broader adoption remains limited by substantial capital investment and the technical demands of MS-based workflows.

In this webinar, you will learn potential strategies for overcoming these barriers. By addressing logistical and economic challenges, direct-to-definitive analyte testing can become a scalable, reliable, and clinically valuable tool across diverse healthcare systems.
