Xcorporeal signs asset purchase agreement with National Quality Care and Fresenius USA

Xcorporeal, Inc. (the “Company” or “Xcorporeal”) announced today that on December 14, 2009 it signed an asset purchase agreement (the “Purchase Agreement”) with National Quality Care, Inc. (“NQCI”, and together with the Company, the “Sellers”), and Fresenius USA, Inc. (the “Purchaser”), a Massachusetts corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of Fresenius Medical Care Holdings, Inc., to sell substantially all of the assets of the Sellers to the Purchaser for an aggregate cash purchase price of $8,000,000 (the “Purchase Price”) and certain additional royalty payment rights.

European CHMP announces positive opinion for Amgen's Prolia marketing authorization

Amgen Inc. today announced that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has announced a positive opinion for the marketing authorization of Prolia((TM)) (denosumab) for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at increased risk of fractures, and for the treatment of bone loss associated with hormone ablation in men with prostate cancer at increased risk of fractures.

CHUM neurosurgeon raises funds for epilepsy research

On January 8, 2010, CHUM neurosurgeon Dr. Alain Bouthillier will leave for Argentina, where he will brave the 6,962-metre heights (over 22,840 feet) of Mount Aconcagua. Dr. Bouthillier's climb is intended to raise public awareness about epilepsy and raise funds for further research on the illness.
