AHIP's Board of Directors has developed a new set of policy initiatives designed to improve the quality and safety of health care.

The proposal includes reforms to the FDA and a plan for comparing the effectiveness of prescription drugs, devices and new medical technologies.

Karen Ignagni, President and CEO of AHIP, will be joined by Dr. Roberta Herman, Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Health Services at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and Dr. Lewis Sandy, Senior Vice President of Clinical Advancement at UnitedHealth Group, at a press briefing on Thursday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the specific details of this proposal.

The quality and safety initiative follows the comprehensive access to coverage proposal released by AHIP's Board last November.
