Swisher Hygiene, leading provider of commercial cleaning and sanitizing products and services, today announced the launch of H1N1 Basics, a free online course offering practical guidance to minimize the opportunity for transmission of H1N1 in the workplace. The course was developed in coordination with CertiLearn, one of the country's foremost producers of e-learning solutions for commercial environments.

"This is one of the most important courses we've ever created," said Swisher Senior Vice President Amy Simpson. "That's why we chose to make it available free of charge. As experts in workplace hygiene, we have a unique opportunity - and responsibility - to help influence public health and make a real difference for our customers and beyond. That's never been more important than it is now, with the threat of pandemic flu upon us."

The course, which can be accessed directly at www.H1N1Course.com, is divided into three lessons: one focusing on general information about the illness, detailing its origin and our current understanding of its epidemiology; one offering basic tactics to minimize exposure and reduce the opportunity for cross contamination; and one outlining the basics of proper handwashing, which is the single most important behavior to practice when it comes to reducing risk.

Content was drawn from several highly credible sources, including Swisher's in-house experts, the United States Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. It is presented in a format that is designed to appeal to learners at all levels, with a combination of audio, graphics and text that make an impression among learners through whichever means of communication they find most effective.

All together, the course is expected to take approximately 30 minutes, including three short ungraded quizzes and a graded 10-question final exam. It can be readily accessed from any computer with an Internet connection and only requires that learners provide a valid email address for registration.
