CoActiv introduces enhancements to its medical imaging product suite at the RSNA 2009

CoActiv, the enterprise image and data management specialist, debuts at RSNA 2009 a full range of enhancements to its comprehensive medical imaging product suite that make it the choice for universal multi-department, multi-modality, multi-platform and multi-format image management. Whether it’s CT images from the radiology department on an integrated PACS/RIS or a DR exam from orthopedics on an iPhone for a physician making rounds, now CoActiv’s advanced product family does it all and more. It is one of the most comprehensive image viewing, management and archiving solutions on the market today.

At RSNA 2009, CoActiv introduces EXAM-PACS support for Windows 7 as well as the Mac OS and iPhone through bi-directional integration with the OsiriX viewer. “Today, with such a wide variety of competing computer platforms, different sites use different technologies for image management—and often employ several,” said Ed Heere, President and CEO of CoActiv. “Moreover, with today’s flexible work locations and mobile technologies, radiologists and other doctors who read images, as well as referring physicians, need this diverse support on a single application. Few vendors offer it, so CoActiv jumped in to fill the gap.”

Complementing this, the company also will debut the new CoActiv family of EXAM-RIS® products that integrate with EXAM-PACS as well as other PACS products to create seamless solutions. Offerings include EXAM-RIS Essentials, which is a high quality, affordable RIS designed for single sites and available for radiology, orthopedic and chiropractic use. It is designed to work with CoActiv’s EXAM-PACS Essentials, a turnkey PACS that enables growing medical practices to transition easily and affordably to complete digital imaging workflow. Also new is EXAM-RIS Enterprise, a complete Web-based multi-site enterprise RIS that supports medium-sized facilities and easily scales up for use by a large university hospital. The third new offering is CoActiv EXAM-TELRIS which manages teleradiology practices reading for multiple sites with such tools as location-independent worklists, automated exam routing, extensive reporting and detailed permissions.

EXAM-PACS has always included sophisticated 3D processing as part of its standard functionality. Being introduced at RSNA are three additional 3D visualization options so that users can customize and enhance the application to meet their specific needs. These include 3D vessel matrix, virtual colonoscopy and PET/CT fusion. “If a site already has an appropriate modality, it can add exams and increase revenues by making a very small investment in just a new software upgrade,” says Heere. “Our licenses are affordably priced and offer the strong value imaging sites demand today.”

“With all these new functionalities and features, the CoActiv suite of medical imaging and data software applications is the most comprehensive and diverse on the market,” according to Heere. “Whatever an imaging location wants—from versatile computer platform support and multi-department imaging to RIS, specialized 3D processing and the world’s most secure and affordable archiving—at CoActiv, we’ve got that. Imaging sites can count on CoActiv to meet their full range of needs with a solution that can expand and scale up with them as they diversify and grow.”
