HighRoads, an industry leader in employer health care database and benefits management, today announced the launch of HR Compliance™, a new solution designed to simplify and automate the creation and update of Medical Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) so that they comply with new health care reform language. The new, technology-based solution generates SPDs quickly leveraging HighRoads' proven and compliant templates.

“When federal government agencies begin to issue regulations in June, employers who want to be in compliance will need to depend on a full-service technology solution like HR Compliance from HighRoads”

"Employers already burdened with the complex process of developing SPDs for their benefits programs are now facing additional complexity as they work to integrate the new language which has resulted from the health care reform bill," said Michael Byers, CEO, HighRoads. "HighRoads is working to make this process both simple and fast through the use of legally-validated compliant templates which embed the new reform language and requirements into SPDs or SMMs for fast and easy employee communication regardless of the current state of corporate SPDs."

HR Compliance from HighRoads is a new full-service technology solution that quickly and cost effectively refreshes existing employer medical SPDs as well as generating new medical SPDs which are compliant with the new health care reform language. HR Compliance delivers three options:

  • Updated, existing custom SPDs
  • New SPDs
  • SMMs (Summary Material Modifications)

Since HR Compliance is technology based, all new and updated SPDs are generated automatically leveraging HighRoads' existing templates. HR Compliance customers will also receive email alerts whenever the DOL regulations and language change. At that time, HR Compliance customers can select how they'd like to address and communicate the new changes to employees.

"When federal government agencies begin to issue regulations in June, employers who want to be in compliance will need to depend on a full-service technology solution like HR Compliance from HighRoads," said Marcia S. Wagner, Managing Director at The Wagner Law Group, a nationally recognized ERISA, employee benefits, executive compensation and employment practice.
