DMAHS awards four-year Medicaid utilization review contract to Permedion

HMS (NASDAQ: HMSY) announced today that the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS) has awarded a contract to Permedion, Inc., HMS's wholly owned subsidiary, to conduct utilization reviews, medical necessity audits, and Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) validations of inpatient hospital medical services provided and billed for Medicaid beneficiaries. The contract extends for four years, with two additional one-year renewal options.

"DMAHS and HMS have enjoyed a long and successful partnership," said Maria Perrin, HMS Executive Vice President for Government Services. "HMS is pleased to provide the medical review services that help DMAHS fulfill its legal and financial obligations to the citizens of New Jersey."

HMS has recovered more than $1.4 billion for DMAHS since 1986. HMS has provided medical reviews to DMAHS since 2007, and has recovered approximately $2.4 million for the State of New Jersey during that time.
