NextGate, the Enterprise Master Index leader, today announced a partnership with NextGen Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, aimed at improving healthcare organizations' ability to combine data from disparate systems and create a unified, complete record for each patient.

“Patient information resides in an increasing number of disparate facilities and systems, causing healthcare organizations to seek to integrate the silos of information to obtain a complete view of their patients”

Under the agreement, NextGen Healthcare will provide its clients the option to complement the master patient index capabilities in several of its products - NextGenSM Health Information Exchange, NextGen® Ambulatory EHR, NextGen® Practice Management, and NextGen® Inpatient Clinicals and Financials - with NextGate's MatchMetrixTM EMPI Suite. With MatchMetrix, NextGen Healthcare's clients will gain an enhanced, single view of patient information, helping them offer a higher level of care across larger service delivery areas.

NextGen Healthcare offers a complete portfolio of ambulatory and inpatient solutions, for which having a master patient index across disparate systems and organizations is critical to meet client needs and enable health information exchange. For its larger community based projects, NextGen Healthcare identified a need to enhance its master patient index capabilities with a probabilistic matching algorithm. After careful review of several offerings, it selected NextGate's MatchMetrix EMPI Suite as its patient matching solution.

With over 16 years of experience as the leader in building and implementing master index solutions, NextGate developed the MatchMetrix EMPI Suite for matching and linking patient information in the absence of a common identifier, allowing providers to achieve a single view of patients. Based on the MatchMetrix MDM Platform, NextGate's EMPI uses advanced intelligent matching statistical algorithms to identify, index, and resolve related patient records spread over different applications and disparate systems. It builds a comprehensive master index of patients and links them together under an Enterprise ID.

"Patient information resides in an increasing number of disparate facilities and systems, causing healthcare organizations to seek to integrate the silos of information to obtain a complete view of their patients," said Andy Aroditis, CEO of NextGate. "With this partnership, we are supporting NextGen Healthcare's mission to improve patient care and reduce healthcare costs by enabling its clients to benefit from a single view of a patient resulting in higher quality care."

"We are pleased to work with NextGate to bring solutions to our clients that advance health information exchange and give them additional matching capabilities that don't exist in the current NextGen® platform," said Jim Rossiter, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Community Connectivity Solutions at NextGen Healthcare. "Enabling our clients to match patient records and exchange health information securely and confidently is critically important today. We look forward to extending our capabilities in these areas with the technology NextGate's MatchMetrix EMPI Suite provides."
