HMS EDIS, powered by MEDHOST, a software suite that automates patient care processes for the emergency department (ED), has been selected by Clay County Hospital and Paris Community Hospital.

“We expect HMS customers to benefit quickly from the proven gains in productivity and safety generated by HMS EDIS”

HMS EDIS has proven to improve patient flow, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.

"We expect the improved communication with patients generated by the workflow improvements to make a very positive impact on our patient satisfaction," said Chris Bloodworth, surgery manager and clinical informatics coordinator at Paris Community Hospital. "With the integration with our current HMS system, this product is a perfect fit." Paris Community, a 25-bed facility in Paris, Illinois, has been an HMS customer for more than a decade.

At Clay County Hospital, a 22-bed, general medical-surgical facility in Flora, Illinois, CEO Bob Sellers said the improvement to financial performance for the ED was a key factor in Clay's decision. "Lost charges are a chronic problem in the ED, and the automatic Charge Capture feature helps eliminate that issue. It calculates charges as care is documented," said Sellers. The hospital has been an HMS customer since 2001.

"We expect HMS customers to benefit quickly from the proven gains in productivity and safety generated by HMS EDIS," said Tom Stephenson, CEO of HMS. "This product is a wonderful extension of our product suite, and we look forward to providing it to more HMS customers in coming months."
