BSR announces finalists for Rheumatology Best Practice Awards

The British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) has announced the finalists for its Best Practice Awards, which highlight ground-breaking and innovative practice in NHS rheumatology services. All the finalists’ work has improved patient experience and outcomes, and offers examples of ways in which rheumatology treatment can be improved across the NHS.

The 17 finalists include teams from hospitals and surgeries across the country. Finalists were shortlisted following nominations by BSR regional chairs, service reports and visits from a specialist panel. Their work will now be assessed by an expert judging panel, including rheumatologists and representatives from NICE and patient organisations. The winners will be decided at a panel meeting on 30 September and showcased on the NHS England stand at the Commissioning Show on 8 October.

The Rheumatology Best Practice Awards are a new initiative devised by the British Society for Rheumatology to produce quantifiable, evidence-based outcomes and costing informed by health economists. The awards will inform services and commissioners by supplying feedback on their performance and by providing case studies of exceptional service to NHS England.
