More than 150 health experts from West Africa will meet in Freetown, Sierra Leone, next week for a multi-day gathering aimed at addressing health issues facing people in the region, AfricaNews reports.

"This is a meeting that will bring together all ministers of health in the region in a single forum to find solutions to the many health hazards affecting the West Africa populace," said Tommy Tengbeh, a liaison officer for the West Africa Health Organisation (WAHO). WAHO is a specialized agency under the Economic Community of West African States. The meeting will be divided into four sessions and is scheduled to start on April 19. At the conclusion of the meeting, health ministers from the region will meet and issue a final communique (Kamara, 4/14).
