Deborah Heart and Lung Center, a specialty heart, lung, and vascular hospital in Browns Mills, NJ has announced two new former major league baseball player spokespersons, as the hospital enters into its second year partnership agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA).
“I am delighted that we are able to continue our partnership with the MLBPAA”
Former Philadelphia Phillies All-Star Catcher, and this year's Wall of Fame inductee, Darren Daulton and former New York Mets All-Star pitcher Al Leiter, have been selected as Deborah's new spokespersons for this year. They join former New York Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Goose Gossage and former Phillies pitcher Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams, who have represented Deborah to date.
The MLBPAA and Deborah joined as partners last year to help raise awareness of the dangers of heart disease and the need for on-going preventive care, as well as offering easy entrée to Deborah's specialty services for MLBPAA members. Deborah joins an impressive roster of business and non-profit organizations that support the MLBPAA and offer special benefits to former, and present, major and minor league players. Daulton and Leiter will be filming commercials to air in the greater New York and Philadelphia markets to underscore the need for heart health and wellness.
In addition to this year's Wall of Fame induction, scheduled for August, Daulton is a commentator on the Comcast Sports Network. Leiter is currently a color commentator for the YES Network and studio analyst for MLB Network.
The MLBPAA, headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, has over 6,200 members nationwide, including 3,700 former major league players, 1200 current baseball players, and former minor league players, umpires, managers, coaches, and fans.
"I am delighted that we are able to continue our partnership with the MLBPAA," said Deborah President and CEO John R. Ernst. "The first year of the partnership was a terrific opportunity for us to serve the needs of retired baseball players, and to shine a light on the need for quality heart care. The MLBPAA has been serving the needs of retired players since 1982, and we are pleased to be able to add to the organization's roster of services."
MLBPAA Chief Executive Officer Dan Foster added: "Deborah has been a great partner with us and we are happy to continue our relationship with such a prestigious hospital. This partnership brings access to state-of-the-art heart, lung, and vascular care, which is a tremendous plus, particularly for our former aging players."
