Quickly responding to international demand due to Japan's disabled nuclear power reactors, James W. Forsythe, M.D., H.M.D., has issued an "Emergency Radiation Medical Handbook" for use worldwide.

The 143-page handbook is on sale at www.RadiationHandbook.com and people from across Japan, the United States and elsewhere already have expressed intense interest in purchasing the book for themselves, their families and work associates. The publication will be available through all major bookstores beginning in May.

Forsythe has treated hundreds of patients exposed to radiation from above-ground nuclear bomb tests at the former Nevada Test Site. He is hailed as perhaps the world's only integrative oncologist with such experience. Integrative oncologists practice both traditional medicines in treating cancer, plus methods considered non-traditional—many which evolved throughout Asia, including Japan.

"Immediately following the Japan disaster, Doctor Forsythe responded to urgent requests from around the world to develop this handbook," said co-author Wayne Rollan Melton, a former Editor-on-Loan to "USA Today." "Non-stop requests for assistance and advice flooded Forsythe's office starting shortly after the Japan earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power reactor disaster on March 11. You should consider this as an essential guide for use before, during and after radiation emergencies."

In her 2009 book "Knockout," which reached Number 1 on the "New York Times Bestseller" list, TV star and media personality Suzanne Somers described Forsythe as a "renaissance man" in the area of cancer treatment.

"Many people from throughout Japan and across North America are in extreme danger of radiation sickness likely to cause cancer," Forsythe said. "In the USA, the Department of Homeland Security warns that it's not a question of 'if' an attack will occur, but rather 'when.' Meantime, many experts worry the danger from nuclear reactors has intensified, while radiation from natural sources poses a significant additional threat."
