VISTAKON® Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., today announced the U.S. introduction of 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® Brand Contact Lenses (narafilcon A), a silicone hydrogel daily disposable lens currently being enjoyed by over 1.3 million patients worldwide. 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® Brand (narafilcon A) is now available at a number of U.S. eye care professionals' offices, with distribution expected to grow throughout the coming months.

Developed with today's contact lens wearer in mind, 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® (narafilcon A) is an innovative contact lens with a distinctive balance of properties that enables it to offer exceptional comfort, comparable to a contact lens-free eye. It is the world's first daily disposable contact lens made with a super-breathable silicone hydrogel material that provides 98 percent of available oxygen to the open eye. "1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® was designed, developed, and clinically researched versus the ultimate benchmark: the natural eye," says Dick Wallingford, O.D., Senior Director, Professional Affairs, VISTAKON®.

1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® (narafilcon A) also features HYDRACLEAR®1 Technology.  This third-generation of HYDRACLEAR® Technology embeds the highest volume of moisture-rich wetting agent in the HYDRACLEAR® Family, resulting in a highly wettable contact lens that feels so comfortable and ultra smooth that every blink feels almost like you're not wearing contact lenses at all. 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® Brand (narafilcon A) was shown to provide high levels of comfort from morning to night, comparable to wearing no lenses at all according to a study published recently in Contact Lens & Anterior Eye, a research-based journal covering all aspects of contact lens theory and practice.

Additionally, 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® (narafilcon A) includes Class-1 UV-Blocking, offering patients the highest level of UV protection in a contact lens, blocking approximately 96 percent of UV-A rays and greater than 99 percent of UV-B rays that reach the cornea.

1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® Brand Contact Lenses (narafilcon A) will gradually replace 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® (narafilcon B), which was launched in the U.S. in 2010.  "More than 25 years after VISTAKON® revolutionized the contact lens industry with the introduction of the first disposable soft contact lens, we continue to bring contact lens wearers innovative new materials, technologies, and designs that meet their vision, comfort, and lifestyle needs," says VISTAKON® president Dave Brown.

There will be a finite amount of time in which both the narafilcon A and narafilcon  B products will be available in the U.S. "If you wear the narafilcon B version of 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® you can keep enjoying your current supply, but when it's finished you'll need to see your eye doctor to be fit with the new version," explains Brown.
