World Veterans Federation supports breakthrough clinically proven and EU approved technology for tinnitus relief

TINNITUS, a debilitating "ringing in the ears", has become the No. 1 service- connected disability among veterans, surpassing post-traumatic stress disorder.

Because military personnel are exposed to aircraft, loud equipment, and explosive noises in training and combat that can exceed 160 decibels, they can suffer permanent damage to the auditory system.

But now help is at hand for army related acoustic trauma as the new EU approved and clinically proven Antinitus^® medical device patch is launched.

The first-in-class product from Antinitus.com has been ten years in development by scientists from Akloma Tinnitus AB in Stockholm, Sweden, in co-operation with the World Veterans Federation, (WVF).

When placed behind the ear and worn for 21 consecutive days, the semi-transparent patch is clinically proven to offer substantial tinnitus relief by modulating nerve functions in the auditory system.

The World Veterans Federation currently consists of 170 veterans organisations from 93 countries, representing some 42 million veterans worldwide.

Mr. Dan-Viggo Bergtun, Vice President of the WVF, says that the debilitating effects of tinnitus have crippled many battle-hardened veterans.

"Tinnitus is a significant problem for our members around the world and unfortunately we are seeing an increase in the condition amongst veterans who served in recent conflicts," Mr. Bergtun said.

"The World Veterans Federation supports approved technology which can bring relief to the lives of our members who are experiencing tinnitus," he said.

Clinical studies for the Antinitus patches conducted by Karolinska Trial Alliance in Stockholm, Sweden and the Sickla Ear, Nose and Throat Centre in Sweden, demonstrate that scientists are on the right path to treating tinnitus.

In one such clinical trial, reduction in tinnitus severity was achieved by 50% of people at end of the 3-week treatment period, and by 90% at a follow-up assessment 4 weeks after the end of therapy.
