Livongo Health named AADE-accredited diabetes education program

"Livongo is the first online/telehealth program to receive AADE's Diabetes Education Accreditation Program status," said AADE President Deborah Greenwood. "I believe others will follow suit as I think it is the wave of the future to deliver personalized, context-sensitive diabetes education and support in the future."

AADE is the only organization exclusively dedicated to diabetes education, and they are one of two organizations authorized by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to determine whether diabetes education programs meet required standards. To date, they have certified 742 programs across the United States.

"Trends show that diabetes education is moving out of the hospital and into the community, so AADE's accreditation program was created, in part, to encourage diabetes education where the patient is seeking care," said Leslie E. Kolb, RN, BSN, MBA, Program Director, Diabetes Education Accreditation Program. "Livongo Health is exactly the type of program we envisioned when we set up our accreditation program in 2009."

• Aug. 6, 9:15-10:15am - Jodi Pulizzi RN, CDE, CHC (Livongo Health Director of Clinical Services) will be speaking on Diabetes Self-Management.
• Aug. 7, 4:30-5:30pm - Jodi will be joined by Toby Smithson, MS, RDN, LDN, CDE, Livongo Health Diabetes Lifestyle Expert, to discuss Diabetes Education for the Virtual World.
• Aug. 8, 1:45-2:45pm - Livongo Health Senior VP of Member Experience, Manny Hernandez, will join AADE CEO Chuck Macfarlane to close the event with a session on diabetes advocacy.
