NeHII, the Nebraska Health Information Initiative, a statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE) designed to share clinical and administrative data among providers in Nebraska, today announced its successful expansion to Central Nebraska. The physicians and medical staff of Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, serving the city of Hastings, are able to communicate electronically and exchange patient information with other hospitals and physicians throughout the state.

“We are pleased to add the physicians of Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital to the NeHII network and provide them with the tools to advance patient care”

Using Axolotl’s Elysium Exchange platform, provided by NeHII, physicians, their staff and other medical providers communicate electronically and exchange clinical information seamlessly and naturally across disparate EMRs. Referrals, laboratory results, radiology reports and other patient data is immediately and securely available in existing EMRs or in Axolotl’s Elysium EMR, a SaaS based solution for small practices. The state wide Elysium Virtual Health Record (VHR) provides authorized physicians with direct access to all available patient data, at the point of care, improving the quality of health care among the state’s residents while helping to control the escalating cost of health care in Nebraska and the U.S.

NeHII securely and instantly connects Nebraska hospitals, labs, physicians, pharmacies, and clinics in serving approximately 1,521,268 patient lives.

Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital has developed a consumer education and marketing campaign, and is spreading the word around Hastings and the surrounding communities that patients at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital will now benefit from their physicians having the most current clinical information possible — with a single click.

“We are pleased to add the physicians of Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital to the NeHII network and provide them with the tools to advance patient care,” said Deb Bass, NeHII Interim Executive Director and President and CEO of Bass & Associates, Inc. “NeHII continues to work collaboratively with health care organizations across Nebraska to develop strategies for statewide implementation.”

Physicians, hospitals and health care entities have been approaching NeHII with inquiries and requests to participate in the exchange after learning the benefits of the HIE. NeHII has over 3.7 million laboratory results and 1.25 million radiology reports online and available for access to authorized users.

“We are proud to be partnered with NeHII, providing and implementing solutions to electronically connect their physicians and health care providers across the state of Nebraska,” said Glenn Keet, President of Axolotl. “We look forward to assisting NeHII with the continued rollout to the rest of the state.”

Axolotl’s Elysium Exchange solutions are used by hundreds of hospitals and thousands of health care professionals, powering 3 statewide HIEs and 18 regional health information organizations (RHIOs) across the nation.
