LUMEDX Corporation, a leading provider of vendor-neutral, integrated cardiovascular imaging and information systems (CVIS), announced the successful implementation of CardioInventory at nine Iowa Health Systems (IHS) affiliate hospitals. The final go-live at St. Luke's Medical Center in Cedar Rapids represents an important milestone in the ongoing installation of a centralized, enterprise-wide LUMEDX cardiovascular image- and data-management system for Iowa Health System.
"Introducing software that allows the individual affiliates to track and monitor their CV inventory levels is the next stage in our larger project with Iowa Health System," said LUMEDX Client Manager Jay Franzen. "Electronic inventory management improves efficiency and streamlines workflow for the facilities at the local level. At the same time, it supports the larger goal of our work with Iowa Health—making all cardiovascular information from all affiliates available for access, comparison and analysis at the enterprise level—by bringing inventory, a crucial component of every heart center's success, into the database."
Iowa Health System is Iowa's largest integrated health network, with 26 affiliated medical centers and 140 physician clinics delivering care to nearly one-third of patients in the state. Because the nine sites that installed CardioInventory stretch across a distance of over 350 miles, a precise yet flexible implementation plan was required. IHS has developed a system for deploying LUMEDX's Apollo software at multiple locations, utilizing enterprise-level IT resources (the Iowa Health Apollo Implementation Team) to install standard modules to all affiliates while recognizing the unique workflows of the individual sites.
CardioInventory was implemented in all cardiac catheterization labs, as well as some electrophysiology and invasive peripheral vascular labs, at the following medical centers:
- Iowa Lutheran Hospital - Des Moines, IA
- Iowa Methodist Medical Center - Des Moines, IA
- Iowa Methodist Medical Center West - Des Moines, IA
- St. Luke's Hospital - Cedar Rapids, IA
- Trinity Regional Medical Center - Fort Dodge, IA
- Allen Memorial Hospital - Waterloo, IA
- Trinity Medical Center Quad-Cities, West Campus - Rock Island, IL
- Trinity Medical Center Quad-Cities, Terrace Park Campus - Bettendorf, IA
- Saint Luke's Regional Medical Center - Sioux City, IA
CardioInventory tracks the use of supplies and devices and links that information to a patient's electronic medical record (EMR), enabling a real-time view of clinical outcomes in relation to device usage. Further, CardioInventory reports and analytics enable medical centers to make informed decisions to control costs, negotiate vendor agreements and maximize third-party reimbursements.
