The U.S. Justice Department entered the court battle over a tough new Indiana abortion law that disqualifies Planned Parenthood of Indiana from the Medicaid program, siding with the organization in its request Thursday for a court order blocking the statute as unconstitutional (Kusmer, 6/16).
NPR: Pressure On Planned Parenthood Grows, As Another State Cuts Funding
The North Carolina Legislature overrode a veto by Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue Wednesday, approving a state budget that bans public funds from going to Planned Parenthood. That makes North Carolina the third state in a month to move toward restrictions on government funding of the reproductive services group (Rovner, 6/16).
