NewsGuard 100/100 Score

REMIND-A-CAP™ a novel product created to help address the $200 billion challenge of medication non-adherence in the United States, was awarded the top Innovative Branded Technology honor in the recently announced 2014 PM360 Pharma Choice Awards. The customizable and patented pill bottle cap with an ergonomic dial to set for next dosing provides a much-needed tool for companies and brands looking to improve their patient to product adherence.

"Studies show that most people do not follow their doctor's instructions when prescribed medicine. And of those, four-in-five cite forgetfulness as the reason for not adhering to their medication schedule," said Matt Ramoundos, Partner and Director of Operations, REMIND-A-CAP. "When my father was faced with the medical regimen that accompanied a cancer diagnosis, I saw first-hand that non-compliance wasn't necessarily an issue of apathy – for many it is an issue of memory."

To help keep patients on course with their medications, the REMIND-A-CAP was developed as the first patient adherence tool of its kind, that can be customized to the specific course for a medicine without batteries, programming or the need for patients to be digitally savvy. The dial on the cap turns with a click to reveal they day of week (Monday – Sunday) and time for next dose (am/pm). The ease of use, fact that the reminder information is placed right into patients' hands, and availability for branding and customization of the cap earned it the PM360 award.

Further reinforcing the value, prescribers have also given the REMIND-A-CAP strong reviews. When asked, nearly 9-in-10 physicians indicated that they would recommend REMIND-A-CAP to their patients as a tool to support their effort to be compliant.

"Regardless of age or health status, life today is fast-paced with opportunity for distractions at every turn," said Dana Levy, M.D., infectious disease specialist practicing in Salt Lake City. "Many of my patients have struggled with medication adherence due to difficulty recalling whether or not they have taken their prescriptions."
