MediCoventures hosts hands-on workshop to accelerate development of new medical technology ideas

MediCoventures, a Phoenix-based medical technology group specializing in turning medical device ideas into startups, is pioneering a 3-day workshop event, “SYNAPSE: Taking MedTech Ideas from Mind to Matter” at the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation (CEI) in Phoenix, AZ on September 17-19, 2015.

This first of its kind, hands-on workshop is designed to accelerate the development of new ideas that can improve patient lives. Participants in the full 3-day event have the opportunity to walk away with a prototype, patent pending application and vetted business model in 3 days.

“The knowledge alone you stand to gain at Synapse would be worth it,” says MediCoventures Partner, Aaron Call. “Add to that a dozen resource sponsors rolling up their sleeves and getting stuff done – that’s the magic of this workshop that we haven’t ever seen done before.”

Among the resource sponsors engaged for this workshop event are attorneys writing patent applications, engineers designing, modeling and building prototypes and business consultants strategizing models that fit the market landscape. Current, confirmed resource sponsors include: MediCoventures, Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation (CEI), Phoenix Analysis and Design Technologies (PADT), Pipeline Design and Engineering, DLA Piper, Knobbe Martens, Schmeiser, Olsen and Watts, LLP, VA Angels, Global Patent Solutions, Hool Coury Law, Arizona Technology Investors (ATI), and Medico Labs.

“We are very excited about this event,” says resource sponsor Steven Miller, JD, MD of Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts. “So many physicians’ ideas are buried due to a lack of time to pursue them or a lack of resources to move it forward efficiently. Synapse completely removes that barrier.”

Only 10 attendees will be accepted for the full workshop in order to ensure that each attendee receives the attention they deserve. Deadline to apply is July 31, 2015.
