A.D.A.M., Inc. (Nasdaq: ADAM), a leading provider of consumer health information, benefits technology solutions and interactive education resources, today announced the availability of A.D.A.M. Inside Out, its newest online education product for the K-12 education market. A.D.A.M. Inside Out offers a unique opportunity for K-12 students to learn about the human body.

“With A.D.A.M. Inside Out, we’ve leveraged our extensive knowledge and visual assets to create a rich, interactive resource for studying and teaching the human body and family life curriculum that can be used in classrooms around the world.”

A.D.A.M. Inside Out combines two of A.D.A.M.’s most popular K-12 education products, A.D.A.M. The Inside Story and the 9 Month Miracle, into one convenient online product that delivers a dynamic, interactive resource for both students and teachers. Features include:

  • Convenient online access through annual subscriptions
  • Updated graphics, enhanced animations and illustrations for an engaging learning experience
  • Larger screen size for better viewing
  • New interface design for easier navigation
  • New fully rotating 3D images, quizzes and puzzles that reinforce learning concepts

A.D.A.M. Inside Out allows students to explore the body layer-by-layer through an interactive “dissection” tool that reveals over 4,000 individual anatomical structures from skin to bone. The characters Adam and Eve come alive with entertaining animations, videos, and sound through the Family Album, which provides directed learning paths for exploring each of the body’s 12 physiological systems and also includes an extensive section on pregnancy. Anterior, posterior, lateral and medial views are available along with detailed animations that provide insight on how major organs and body systems develop. The Family Album covers 80 health and wellness topics, including those required in today’s core K-12 curriculum like exercise, nutrient exchange, blood flow and more.

In addition, students interactively learn about pregnancy and childbirth. Medical experts join Adam and Eve for a guided tour inside the body and body systems as their baby develops. In-body photography shows the baby developing while Adam and Eve's "virtual obstetrician" explains major developments. Also included is an updated version of “Emily's New Sister”, a special section for children ages 3-9 that tells the story of a new baby through the eyes of 7-year old Emily.

“We’re committed to developing engaging new technologies that aid in learning about health, wellness and the human body,” said Mark Adams, president and chief executive officer of A.D.A.M. “With A.D.A.M. Inside Out, we’ve leveraged our extensive knowledge and visual assets to create a rich, interactive resource for studying and teaching the human body and family life curriculum that can be used in classrooms around the world.”

Shannon McGuire, senior vice president and general manager of A.D.A.M.’s education business unit said, “We’ve advanced our offerings by creating a dynamic online resource for general biology, life science, health, sex education and family life curriculum. We’re proud to be able to bring this unique and valuable online product to educators and students.”

A.D.A.M. Inside Out can also be adapted to individual school preferences with modesty settings and the ability to remove the pregnancy and childbirth sections for schools that do not require that subject matter in their curriculum, or want to teach it later.
