Aware, Inc. (Nasdaq: AWRE), a global provider of imaging and biometrics software, today announced that it will introduce and demonstrate several new biometrics software products in its exhibition booth at the upcoming Biometrics Consortium Conference and Technology Expo. The event takes place in Tampa from September 21 to 23, 2010. New products to be demonstrated include Forensic Workbench, FormScanner, and BioSP™ Report Manager. Forensic Workbench is an intuitive application for manual drag-and-drop assembly of compliant biometric data records. FormScanner is an application for assisted batch processing and digitization of fingerprint cards. BioSP Report Manager is a server-based Biometric Services Platform (BioSP) module that performs advanced analysis and reporting of biometric data and service levels, such as image quality, throughput, and other key metrics.

"Our nearly twenty years of success in the biometrics industry is based in large part upon our consistent commitment to innovation and new product development," commented David Benini, Senior Director of Marketing at Aware. "As with many of our products, these new additions to our portfolio are designed to fill gaps in the marketplace in direct response to requirements expressed by our customers."

Forensic Workbench is a software application that utilizes several Aware SDKs for the categorization, processing, and formatting of biometric images and demographic data. The primary function of the application is the easy assembly of disparate biometric imagery and text into a standard-compliant data structure, such as ANSI/NIST ITL 1-2007, EFTS and EBTS.

FormScanner is designed to optimally manage the workflow associated with scanning and processing of paper forms that contain inked images of fingerprints. FormScanner utilizes three Aware SDKs: AccuScan, NISTPack, and SequenceCheck, and provides compliance with FBI Electronic Fingerprint Transmission Specification - "EFTS" Appendix F for a range of consumer-grade Epson scanners.

BioSP Report Manager provides statistical analysis and reporting of biometric enrollment data. The customizable reports can be used for identifying enrollment problems or general system performance improvements. For example, data might be presented that measures biometric image quality as a function of capture hardware device or operator, with summarizing metrics such as averages, standard deviations, and automatically-identified outliers. Reports could be used to correlate quality to factors such as throughput or time-of-day. Statistically low quality scores could indicate that a particular capture device is working improperly, an operator requires additional training, or environmental factors are negatively affecting enrollment intermittently.

BioSP is a highly modular, secure, service-oriented biometric application server product used by Aware customers globally to perform a wide variety of biometric tasks on a server. It offers a programmable workflow engine and several independent, off-the-shelf software modules used for tasks such as image storage, transaction routing and management, fingerprint and facial image processing and quality checking, standards-compliant data formatting, biometric matching, and enrollment data quality reporting. BioSP includes a platform for configuration, distribution, and management of a client-based biometric enrollment application. BioSP is integrated with several third-party matchers for multimodal biometric search capability, as well as market-leading identity management and card management systems.
