ArjoHuntleigh announced today that it has been awarded a three-year contract with Premier Purchasing Partners, L.P., the group purchasing unit of the Premier healthcare alliance, for its vascular compression therapy systems. The agreement, effective December 1, 2012, allows Premier members, at their discretion, to take advantage of special pricing and terms pre-negotiated by Premier for ArjoHuntleigh's range of Flowtron® vascular compression therapy systems used for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

"We are very excited about this opportunity to provide Premier members with our proven vascular compression therapy solutions," stated Dan Raffensberger, ArjoHuntleigh US Director of Sales. "ArjoHuntleigh is committed to providing high quality vascular compression therapy that helps reduce the significant impact of deep vein thrombosis while increasing efficiencies and cost savings."

Deep vein thrombosis, a blood clot in the deep veins, affects approximately 2 million Americans annually and may travel to the lungs causing a potentially fatal pulmonary embolism, the most common preventable cause of hospital death. Many of these deaths are highly preventable through the use of clinically proven mechanical thromboprophylaxis methods, such as the Flowtron vascular compression therapy systems, which improve patient outcomes by reducing the incidence of DVT formation in patients at risk.
