Wolters Kluwer Health and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) today announced an agreement to publish the Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy, Official Journal of the Acute Care Section of the APTA, effective with the September 2013 issue.
Glenn Irion, PT, PhD, CWS, will continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief. "We're pleased to enter into this new publishing partnership with Wolters Kluwer Health's Lippincott Williams & Wilkins team," commented Dr Irion. "It's an exciting next step toward the goal of extending our journal's reach, audience, and influence." Each issue of Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy presents original research, reviews, and case reports relevant to physical therapy for patients with acute medical conditions.

The Wolters Kluwer Health - LWW publishing team will deliver a redesigned journal, a new multi-feature website, and improved manuscript submission and tracking using its Editorial Manager system to help extend the journal's distribution and reach to physical therapy specialists worldwide. The journal is published three times a year. Members of the APTA's Acute Care Section will receive the journal as a benefit of membership.
Dr Irion has issued a call for submissions to the relaunched journal. He adds, "We encourage all acute care physical therapists—and especially members of the Acute Care Section—to submit their research and other submissions for consideration for publication in our specialty's leading peer-reviewed journal."
The Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy is the fifth section APTA journal to be published by Wolters Kluwer Health -LWW; the others are Pediatric Physical Therapy, Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy, Journal of Women's Health Physical Therapy, and Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy.
