Health Language, Inc. (HLI), the global leader in healthcare terminology management, today announced its Language Engine has been selected by Health Care DataWorks, Inc. (HCD), to map disparate data entered into its KnowledgeEdge™ brand Enterprise Data Warehouse, providing health systems with standard code sets, enhanced analytics, reporting and business intelligence.

"Health Language, Inc. shares in our vision of empowering healthcare systems to gain seamless access to actionable knowledge that improves quality and reduces costs," said Dr. Jyoti Kamal, HCD president. "Our partnership with HLI contributes to the success of our comprehensive Enterprise Data Warehouse that is the cornerstone of our KnowledgeEdge Enterprise brand."

Through the implementation of HLI's Language Engine, HCD is able to normalize financial, administrative, clinical and research data for a unified view of information, without losing granularity. Furthermore, as a result of the partnership, HCD provides healthcare systems the ability to:

  • Access, export and manage data more easily via a terminology server, including a clear view of mappings;
  • Standardize all medical content on a single platform, regardless in what format it was entered;
  • Receive updates to the standard codes such as ICD-10 and SNOMED, within days of release, resulting in consistent, up-to-date data; and
  • Provide flexible tools that customize terminology modeling, updating and deployment to best meet organizational needs.

HCD selected HLI because of the company's experience and expertise in terminology management, the performance and scalability of the Language Engine and breadth of content and mappings offered by its software.

"It's more necessary than ever for healthcare providers to have a transparent view of their data in order to remain efficient and competitive," said George Schwend, CEO and president of HLI. "We look forward to working with HCD to enable its users to gain organization-wide clarity, ultimately helping to lower costs and improve patient care."
