Xylem’s YSI biochemistry analyzer ideal for food process applications

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

The 2900 Series Biochemistry Analyzers from YSI, a Xylem brand, deliver rapid, accurate biochemistry analysis and provide several data management solutions for  making process and quality assurance decisions in food process applications.

Xylem’s YSI brand will be exhibiting in booth 3417/3517 at Pittcon 2015, March 9-12, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In the manufacture and packaging of ketchup and related tomato products, L-lactate and ethanol concentrations in these complex matrices can be measured in about one minute with minimal preparation using the 2900 Biochemistry Analyzer. YSI’s unique enzyme electrode technology provides for specific lactate measurements in the range of 10 to 1335 ppm, with ethanol measured in the range of 20 to 1000 ppm. The measurement range and resolution of the YSI 2900 Series analyzer allows for rapid detection of minute changes in lactate and ethanol concentrations, which can be indicative of microbial contamination of these food products.

Measurements with the 2900 are essentially unaffected by color, turbidity, density, pH, or the presence of chemical substances. The YSI analyzer simultaneously measures lactate and ethanol after aspiration of just 15 microliters of sample, making it a very efficient process.
