Ziath Support World Record-Setting Challenge for Charity

Ziath is proud to have sponsored athlete Ben Blowes on his incredible “31 Stars” Guinness World Record-setting challenge to run 31 marathons in 31 consecutive days.

Ben was running in support of Cambridge, UK charity - Tom’s Trust, which provides physical and emotional support to young people with life-threatening conditions. Tom’s Trust set out to raise £31,000 over the 31 days of the marathon attempt, but actually raised more than £131,000 overall, which will help them to deliver support to more than 150 children & young people during 2021.

Ziath sponsored Ben’s final run, on New Year’s Eve 2020, with a generous donation in recognition of the vital work this local charity performs in and around Cambridgeshire.

Jessica Wilde from Tom’s Trust commented: “Ziath’s incredible support towards Ben and to our Tom’s Trust Children and Families is really, really appreciated. Thank you so very much. The 31 Stars journey has been an immense one for Ben, Tom’s Trust, and the families who have been supported by the challenge. We are very glad that Ziath could be a part of this incredible journey.”

As part of their sponsorship, two Ziath employees also ran with Ben for part of a marathon. Instrumentation engineer Matthew Coteman and Product Manager Avash Anderson did 5k and 10K respectively to show their support and raise even more money for Tom’s Trust. On the day, Covid-19 pandemic restrictions meant that Avash had to run around his garden at home, as he was unable to join the marathon runner at the start point outside Kings College Cambridge under the UK’s “Tier” rules.

Ziath Managing Director, Neil Benn, said: “We are proud to have supported Tom’s Trust and delighted that two of our team were able to make such a splendid physical contribution to the success of Ben Blowes’ challenge.”
