Located at Tallaght Cross East, Dublin, the new clinic will become the first dedicated independent memory center in Ireland offering access to Alzheimer's disease-targeting therapies, including Leqembi® (lecanemab) and Kisunla® (donanemab) for eligible patients with early Alzheimer's disease.

The launch follows the approval of both medicines in Ireland, representing one of the most significant advances in Alzheimer's treatments. Unlike traditional dementia medications, which manage just the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, Leqembi and Kisunla are anti-amyloid monoclonal antibodies that target and remove the toxic amyloid protein s in the brain, the hallmark of Alzheimer's disease. Clinical trials have shown these treatments can slow disease progression in individuals with an accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer's, during the early stages of this condition.

Until now, many Irish patients seeking access to these breakthrough therapies have travelled to one of Re:Cognition Health’s Clinics in the UK for specialist assessment, diagnostic investigations and ongoing treatment. Re:Cognition Health has experienced substantial demand from patients and families across Ireland, highlighting both the unmet need for specialist memory services and the desire for treatment closer to home.

The clinic represents the first phase of Re:Cognition Health's expansion in Ireland, with additional memory services and specialist clinics planned as demand continues to grow.

Professor Sean Kennelly, Clinical Director for Ireland at Re:Cognition Health, said:

"The arrival of disease-modifying therapies has fundamentally changed what is possible in Alzheimer's care. For the first time, we can offer eligible patients treatments that address the underlying biology of the disease rather than simply managing symptoms. Until now, many Irish families have faced the emotional, financial and logistical burden of travelling overseas to access these therapies. Bringing this expertise and treatment capability to Dublin means patients can receive world-class care much closer to home, with ongoing support from an experienced specialist team."

Dr. Emer MacSweeney, CEO, Co-Founder and Medical Director of Re:Cognition Health, comments:

"This is a landmark moment not only for Re:Cognition Health but for dementia care in Ireland. The approval of disease-modifying therapies has changed the landscape of Alzheimer's care forever. Having played a key role in the pivotal clinical trials and now delivering these treatments in routine practice, we have more experience than any other clinic in the UK and our team of cognitive experts understand both the science and the patient journey. We have welcomed many Irish patients to our UK clinics over recent years, so opening in Dublin is a natural and important next step. Our ambition is to ensure people across Ireland have access to world-class diagnosis, treatment and ongoing specialist care, giving eligible patients the best possible chance to live well for longer."

Opening our Dublin clinic is the beginning of a long-term commitment to transforming memory care across Ireland. We know demand for specialist cognitive assessment and disease-modifying treatments for Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases continues to grow, and this clinic has been designed to deliver an exceptional patient experience from diagnosis through to treatment and follow-up care. We also look forward to expanding our range of memory services across Ireland in the coming months."

Dustin Reibe, Operations Director, Re:Cognition Health

The opening reflects the rapidly evolving landscape of Alzheimer's care, with increasing recognition that early diagnosis is essential for patients to access therapies capable of slowing disease progression. As disease-modifying treatments become more widely available, timely assessment and biomarker-led diagnosis are becoming increasingly important components of dementia care.

Re:Cognition Health has established itself as an international leader in early diagnosis, Alzheimer's clinical research and disease-modifying treatment delivery, with specialist centers across the UK and the United States. The Dublin clinic further strengthens the organization’s commitment to expanding access to innovative dementia care for patients across Europe.
